Course Content
The curriculum network of the doctoral school
During the training and research phase, students are required to complete one compulsory subject per semester. One of the compulsory subjects can be chosen according to the student’s topic announcement (to be compulsorily chosen). In addition, students can take elective subjects until the maximum study credit limit is exhausted.

Study Credits
Compulsory and compulsory elective subjects provide the main profile of the training, their value is 8 credits/subject. The credit value of elective subjects is 5. In accordance with the provisions of Annex D2) of the EDHSZ, the student may complete 32 credits (100%) of the 32 study credits that can be obtained with compulsory and compulsory elective subjects with equivalent subjects, and in addition, a maximum of 25 credits with elective subjects by credit transfer or partial training (interrogation) or prior completion. Study credits are certified by the IMDI Study Administrator based on the applications submitted by the student (Appendix 4).
As a preliminary performance, the DIT may accept formal or non-formal workplace training in accordance with the conceptual framework of IMDI training based on the request of the doctoral student. The application must be submitted with the approval of the supervisor addressed to the secretary of IMDI. The application must be accompanied by a certificate of completion of the training and the documentation of the training, on the basis of which the duration of the work expended, the professional content of the training and the level of output competence can be determined. The DIT may accept 1 study credit for every 30 hours of expenditure as preliminary academic performance, if the professional content of the training can be classified as business and organizational sciences and its level of competence corresponds to the requirements of the doctoral training.
Pursuant to Article 53 (3a) of the NFTV, students preparing for doctoral studies may take IMDI subjects already in the last academic year of their master’s programme. The credits earned in this way will be recognized by IMDI as preliminary achievement in case of successful admission.
Research credits
During the training, at least 135 research credits must be completed. Of these, 92 credits can be completed with the mandatory semester reports. The value of the approved half-year report is 8 and 15 credits, respectively. The process and requirements of the half-year financial statements are described in Section 3.9.
6-10 credits per semester may be awarded for other research work (research projects) outside the research topic based on the proposal and written certification of the supervisor and the principal investigator, and a maximum of 40 credits during the 8 semesters. Students can obtain the credits for the research project by part-time training (interrogation) or by pre-completion in accordance with the provisions of Annex D2 of the EDHSZ. The form for the certification of research projects is available in Annex 5.
On the basis of the doctoral student’s request, the DIT may accept the doctoral student’s participation in research and development work at the workplace, or his/her activities related to innovation management or business/social innovation. The application must be submitted with the approval of the supervisor addressed to the secretary of IMDI. The application must be accompanied by the employer’s certificate, on the basis of which the duration, professional content and level of responsibility of the work spent can be determined. For a semester of work experience with at least 20 hours of employment per week, 8 credits can be counted for a position corresponding to FEOR-08 main group 1, 2 credits in the case of a job corresponding to main group 2, and 2 credits in the case of a job corresponding to main group 3.
Credits for publication are part of the research credits. The accounting system for publication credits is described in Annex 1. During the training, a minimum of 75 publication credits must be completed, of which at least 10 publication credits are expected to be completed during the training and research phase. The evaluation of publication performance is based on the data recorded by the student in the Repository of Hungarian Scientific Works (MTMT). Publication credits are certified by the IMDI Secretary (Annex 6).
Educational Credits
The completion of the absolute and the degree is not conditional on the doctoral student being engaged in educational activity, and IMDI does not prescribe a minimum expected performance in terms of educational credits. A maximum of 5 credits per semester (maximum 20 credits in total) can be completed during the training and research phase, and 10 (maximum 40 credits in total) per semester during the research and dissertation phase, but a maximum of 60 credits can be counted during the entire training.
In the case of a full-semester subject/seminar, 1 credit may be given for 1 lesson per week (or equivalent), taking into account the preparation time, and 2 credits may be given for subjects requiring significant theoretical preparation (e.g. curriculum development, modernization). 0.5 credits can be counted for the occasional (at least 45 minutes) individual theoretical lectures that enrich the training of the Faculty of Medicine and require significant (~15 hours) preparation on the part of the doctoral student. The educational activity is certified jointly by the head of the organizational unit responsible for education and the subject director of the subject taught.
The individual consultation activities of doctoral students participating in bachelor’s or master’s level training in connection with talent management and the education of scientific successors (e.g. scientific students’ association or thesis supervisor) may be accounted for as educational credit completion based on the proposal of the supervisor. The credit value is determined individually based on the time spent on consultation and preparation. The basic principle is that 1 credit can be given for 30 hours of work (15 hours of consultation + 15 hours of preparation) (Appendix 7).
In accordance with the provisions of Annex D2) of the EDHSZ, students may complete educational credits by partial training (interrogation) or by prior completion. Upon the request of the doctoral student, the DIT may accept teaching activities carried out within the framework of formal or informal training organised by a higher education institution or other employer as preliminary performance, provided that the professional content of the training fits into the conceptual framework of the IMDI training, can be classified as business and organisational science, and its level of competence corresponds to the requirements of higher education training. The application must be submitted with the approval of the supervisor addressed to the secretary of IMDI. The application must be accompanied by a certificate of educational activity and the documentation of the training, on the basis of which the duration of the work spent, the professional content of the training and the level of output competence can be determined. DIT may accept 1 study credit for every 30 hours of expenditure as preliminary academic achievement.
